Network Marketing has been around for over fifty years. It is a business model that is built on relationship marketing and has traditionally meant talking to your friends, family and acquaintances about the business that you have become involved with. It has meant trips to people's homes or hotel meeting rooms for what was referred to as an opportunity meeting. Usually these were conducted by expert sales people and featured some very advanced presentations. Nearly everyone over 30 years old has had an experience where they were requested to attend or actually attended one of these meetings.

The sad fact is that usually the person who joined the business opportunity quickly ran out of people to bring to these meetings well before anyone joined their sales team. The result was a closet full of product and a very empty bank account. The Network Marketing industry gained a reputation that was not always positive and constantly battled the extremely high failure rate that was the reputation of what is sometimes called the Multi-Level Marketing business model or MLM for short.

For anyone who has studied this industry, it might be worth re-examining what has happened to this business model in this Internet Age that we live in. Just as online shopping has skyrocketed because of selection and convenience, the presentation aspect of Network Marketing has evolved into an efficient and stress-free process that has given the industry new life. No matter what the product or service, the Internet can offer a venue that will attract quality people who are willing to invest in a business.

Because of the advances in technology, the average home based entrepreneur can be up and running in a very short time and making money almost immediately. Is it still a business based on personal contact and relationship building? Absolutely! But what has happened is that the Internet can sort through all the "tire kickers" and lead highly motivated people through a process where they will actually be calling you instead of you having to chase them down leaving countless messages on their answering machines.

Even better, the Internet can give your leads a quality presentation of the products or services as well as an overview of the opportunity at their convenience day or night. You can actually be greeted with an e-mail in the morning informing you that another person has joined your opportunity while you were asleep.

It actually works better as well for the prospective entrepreneur who is searching for the right opportunity. They can evaluate many different programs without talking to a single person and then only investigate those opportunities that truly appeal to them.

Network Marketing is still a business of exposure. This means that the most successful individuals in the business are the ones who make the most quality presentations. Even here, the Internet has been a great benefit for those who are active in an MLM company. There are some first-rate tools that will bring visitors to your website at little cost or even for free. Because of this, many experts agree that the Internet will bring about the largest growth period for Network Marketing. The best news for the person who is looking to start a profitable business with limited capital is that you do not have to be a technological expert to create a highly professional website for your business opportunity. There is no question that Network Marketing is bigger than ever on the Internet and helping more and more people build a profitable business right from their own home.
